From Awareness to Application

Toward a Better World

My journey into AI began with skepticism. Like many, I saw it as a distant, futuristic concept: plenty of hype, little real application. But as I dug deeper, I discovered that it is not only about building intelligent machines; it is about augmenting our own intelligence and reshaping the world around us.

We stand at a moment where the science of intelligent machines intersects with the essence of human experience. What kind of intelligence are we building? How do we ensure it serves humanity, enhances our abilities and upholds our values? The true power of AI lies not in its algorithms alone, but in its capacity to amplify human potential.

From “Awareness” to “Application”

In the first edition of Awakening Intelligence (2025) I set out the “purpose and the why”: a call for leaders and decision-makers to understand AI as a transformative force that demands strategy, insight and a moral compass. Then in Applied Intelligence (2026) I answered the question of “how”: a field guide for creators, developers, marketers and artists, for everyone on the front line asking: how do I turn my idea into reality?

If Awakening Intelligence is the strategic map, Applied Intelligence is the field guide. “Awareness” ensures we ask the right questions, and “application” gives us the tools to answer them.

Why a Second Edition?

This second edition of Awakening Intelligence brings Applied Intelligence in full, so the two books become one continuous book with every concept from both, updated to match where the technology stands today: reasoning models, smart agents and the protocols that connect them to tools, advanced retrieval, small models on devices, and the regulations that turned ethics from principles into obligations.

It also introduces the Unified Cognitive Security Maturity Model (UCSMM) from my doctoral research. All the figures of both books have been redrawn in a single visual language.

We have moved past the awe of the black box. AI is no longer a mysterious magical concept but a tool in our hands; a “magic brush” that can paint whatever we imagine. But the real power is not in the brush; it is in the hand of the artist who guides it.

How to Read This Book

The book is divided into five parts that follow a single journey: from awareness of AI, to understanding its mind, to applying it, to embedding it in the organization, to building trust in it and looking ahead. A leader may start with Parts One, Four and Five; a creator or developer with Parts Two and Three.

• 2026 Update: a box adding what has changed in the technology since the first editions.
• From the Field: a box warning of execution pitfalls that training courses never mention.
• Lessons Learned: a summary at the end of every chapter.
• Glossary: at the end of the book, in English with the Arabic equivalent.
