Why boundaries, and why now?

1 min read2 of 14

We have become available at every hour: a work message after midnight, a favour asked by a friend on our day off, a group chat on our phone that never goes quiet. With all this constant contact, the hardest thing to learn has become a single word: “no”.

In this issue Youssef learns to decline kindly, Maryam learns to rest without falling short, and Rima finds her voice after a long silence. Then, in the second part, we see how relationships are built when each person knows what they need, and says it calmly.

Boundaries are not walls that separate us from those we love, but doors we know when to open and when to close. Read, and think of one door you need to rearrange.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Fawzi Elgendi
