5Adel and Hadeel

In a small town among the mountains lived Adel and Hadeel. They loved each other, but over time some tension began to creep in between them.

Adel decided to write a list of what he needed from the relationship, rating each need out of ten:

“Good communication and understanding each other’s needs are the key to a successful relationship.”

Trust. He felt he needed more trust from Hadeel, and rated this need six out of ten.

Communication. He wanted better communication between them, and rated it seven.

Shared interests. He wished they did more activities together, and rated it five.

Hadeel wrote her list too:

Mutual respect. She felt Adel respected her, but sometimes she needed more respect, and rated it eight.

Emotional support. She wanted more emotional support, and rated it six.

Time together. She wished for more time together, and rated it seven.

That evening, after a whole day of thinking, they sat and exchanged their lists. They discussed each point and how to improve it, understood each other more deeply, and agreed to work on finding balance together.

Over time their relationship grew stronger and steadier. They knew that good communication and understanding each other’s needs are the key to a successful relationship, and decided to repeat the exercise every so often.
