A drawing from the story “Sarah and the Family”

In a quiet village lived Abdullah’s family: the father Abdullah, the mother Sarah, and their two children, Youssef and Hana. They were a model of love and understanding, striving to be a sound building block of their community.

Emotional support. Sarah was the beating heart of the family. She listened to Abdullah when he came home from work, and gave him the support he needed to return strong for his family and community.

“A close family strengthens the fabric in which the whole community lives.”

Practical support. Youssef and Hana helped with the housework, learning the values of cooperation and responsibility, and easing their mother’s load.

Support for learning. Youssef asked many questions, and his parents made sure to answer them and encourage him to research and explore, so his character grew and his mind widened.

Social needs. The family made a point of spending screen-free time together: outings and family occasions that strengthened their bonds and gave everyone a sense of belonging.

Appreciation and companionship. When Youssef struggled at school, he found guidance from his parents. And Hana, with her innocence and love of life, found companionship and love in her family, and felt safe.

So Abdullah’s family became a strong core for its community, living with love and mutual respect, knowing that its own goodness spreads to those around it, and that its closeness strengthens the fabric in which the whole community lives.
