Story 02 · The Team
2The Bridges Programme

In Fawzooz’s village, where spiritual and family values are woven into the fabric of the community, young people and children faced growing challenges of stress and social isolation. To address them, Fawzooz decided to develop a new technology programme using the Scrum framework.
Adapting the Scrum roles
“Every generation holds a piece of the solution.”
Product Owner. A counsellor experienced in psychological and spiritual support, responsible for making sure the programme met users’ needs and reflected the community’s spiritual goals.
Scrum Master. A seasoned software developer, who understood both the technical and creative sides of the project, facilitated development and protected the team from distraction.
Development team. A diverse group of programmers, interface designers, and experts in psychological and spiritual education, working together to deliver the programme’s technical elements and content.
Adapting the Scrum artefacts and events
The Product Backlog listed features such as interactive support sessions, activities to nurture spirituality, and features to ease communication between generations.
The Sprint Backlog included specific tasks such as developing interaction protocols, designing interfaces, and preparing educational and support content.
Each Increment contained usable components that could be evaluated and improved every Sprint.
Tailored Scrum events
Sprint Planning set priorities for upcoming tasks based on their psychological and spiritual importance to users.
The Daily Scrum was a short daily meeting to discuss progress and obstacles, with a focus on integrating technology and spiritual support.
The Sprint Review presented prototypes and new features to counsellors, parents and youth representatives to gather feedback.
The Sprint Retrospective assessed processes and results, and planned improvements to how the programme delivered its psychological and spiritual content.
Through this adapted Scrum process, Fawzooz and his team developed a programme supporting the mental and spiritual wellbeing of the village’s children and young people, strengthening ties between generations and improving wellbeing for all.
