A drawing from the story “The Power of Constructive Thinking”

Fawzooz decided to deepen his understanding of how his way of thinking affects his decisions and his life as a whole. He realised that his mind, like many people’s, works through two systems: one fast and automatic, the other analytical and deliberate. He had grown used to relying heavily on fast thinking, which served him in many passing situations. But he decided to adopt and strengthen constructive, unhurried thinking, especially in situations that called for deep and careful thought. He began training himself to pause for a moment before reacting, deepening his thinking and his processing of information. Each day he set aside time to review decisions he had made quickly, reflecting on their outcomes and analysing where constructive thinking would have served him better. He also began reflecting on and studying the Qur’an closely, using these techniques to draw a deeper understanding from the text. Over time, Fawzooz noticed a clear improvement in his ability to handle complex situations. He found himself making more thoughtful, considered decisions, which improved his personal and professional relationships.

His responses became less impulsive and wiser. Fawzooz learned that constructive thinking is a powerful tool not only for personal growth, but for spiritual growth too. He gained a new appreciation for patience and reflection as essential parts of Islam, which deepened his understanding of life and how he met everyday challenges. That day, Fawzooz realised how constructive thinking could strengthen his ability to make considered decisions, and deepen his spiritual understanding, helping him face daily challenges with more effectiveness and contentment.

“There is wisdom in patience and light in reflection; slow thinking opens the doors of deep understanding and leads to decisions that root us in certainty and peace.”
