5Hastening to Do Good

Having made clear improvements in how he worked and developed his capacity for deep focus, Fawzooz now decided to speed up his response to opportunities to do good, inspired by Islamic teachings that call on believers to race toward good deeds. He began applying a rule in his daily life: he would say, “In the name of God, I put my trust in God, and there is no power nor strength except through God,” and then take the necessary action without hesitation. This approach helped him make quick decisions toward good deeds, whether giving to those in need, helping a neighbour, or joining a new project that would benefit him or the community. Whenever he met a chance to do good, he used this rule of trust to overcome any hesitation. The practice made him more active and influential in his community, and strengthened his self-confidence and his faith in action. Over time, people around Fawzooz noticed how much readier he had become to take the initiative and work actively for good. This behaviour not only lifted his own spirits but helped improve his community.
Fawzooz came to understand the growing value of time and of acting promptly, both personally and socially. He discovered the importance of quick, decisive action when an opportunity for good arises, showing how one can make a positive difference in others’ lives through small but swift and well-done acts. He learned that responding quickly and effectively to do good reinforces positive behaviour and improves one’s personal and social effectiveness, in keeping with the Prophet’s words on hastening to do good and the deep impact a person can leave in the world.
“Hastening to do good is not only an act of faith, but a way to sharpen the mind and strengthen community, making every moment a chance for positive impact and real change.”
