Story 10 · The Building
10Living by Design, Not by Default

As the years passed, Fawzooz’s life became more balanced and rich. He had achieved many of his goals and built a legacy that would last long after him. But at this stage of his life he realised something important: happiness and contentment lie not only in achieving big goals, but in the ability to design one’s life in harmony with one’s values and ambitions. He now knew true success is living your life with awareness and design, not by default or by chance.
Living with full awareness
“True happiness comes from living with awareness and intention.”
Fawzooz began to ask what it means to live with full awareness. He knew most people spend their days busy with daily tasks, rarely stopping to think about what they really want from life. But he decided to be different. He wanted to live each day by design, giving every step meaning and value. Each morning he began his day with reflection. It wasn’t just a way to relax, but a way to set his intentions for the day. He asked himself: “What do I want to achieve today? How can I move closer to my vision for my life?” He knew the small decisions he made every day were what shaped his life in the long run.
Design versus default
Fawzooz reflected on how he had lived before beginning his journey of change. He realised he had spent most of his time living by default: by assumptions about what he should do, what others expected of him, even what he thought he needed to be happy. But now he knew life shouldn’t be lived that way. Design means giving every decision meaning and every step a clear intention. He knew this didn’t mean planning every moment, but being aware of what he was doing and making his choices based on what he truly believed, not on outside expectations or routine.
Daily balance
With each passing day, Fawzooz made sure to keep balance in his life. He didn’t focus only on work or professional success; he made balance in everything his priority: in time with his family, in caring for his health, and in setting aside time to think and create. He found real happiness in this balance. He no longer just chased big goals, but enjoyed every moment of daily life. He saw that living by design also means being present in the moment and enjoying life’s small details.
The power of simplicity
At this stage of his life, Fawzooz discovered that simplicity is the key to happiness. He no longer looked for big things to feel content; he found happiness in simple moments: quiet time with his family, reading an inspiring book, or walking in nature. He knew people often chase more and more, but he had discovered that real strength lies in simplicity. He always remembered that life isn’t in the material things we own, but in the experiences we live and the relationships we build.
Celebrating every moment
By living by design, Fawzooz learned the importance of celebrating every moment. He no longer saw the future as a final destination, but lived each day as if it were the goal. He cherished every moment, celebrating small successes and beautiful times with family and friends.
He realised life isn’t a race to reach a particular end, but a journey full of moments worth celebrating. And he knew designing his life this way was what gave him lasting happiness and contentment.
The end: designing a meaningful life
At the end of this journey, Fawzooz had discovered something greater than success or legacy. He had discovered how to design his life so that every day was full of meaning and contentment. He no longer lived only to reach specific goals, but by conscious design, where every step and every decision mattered. He knew life could be full of challenges and transitions, but he was ready to meet them with a designer’s mindset. He knew true happiness and success come from designing a life that fits your values and ambitions, living every moment with design and meaning.
At the end of this journey, Fawzooz had learned that success and happiness are not only about big goals, but about the ability to live life by design. He discovered that life is not only in what we achieve, but in how we live each day. The journey was full of lessons, but the most important was that true happiness comes from living with awareness, intention, and a commitment to balance and meaning in every part of life.
