Story 09 · The Building
9Building His Legacy

As Fawzooz settled into his new life and moved past the transitions he had faced, he began to think about a new stage of his journey: building his legacy. He wasn’t thinking of legacy only in terms of money or material achievement; he was asking how he could leave a positive, lasting mark on those around him. One night, sitting on his balcony looking at the sky, he asked himself: “What do I want people to remember me for? How can I be a force for positive change in others’ lives?” He realised the legacy he leaves lies not only in what he achieves for himself, but in what he contributes to others.
Influencing those around him
“A legacy is not only what we leave to others, but what we live each day.”
Fawzooz began thinking about how he could offer value to society and to future generations. He knew he had experience and knowledge gathered over years of work, and that he could share it. He decided to start running workshops and courses, teaching people how to balance personal and professional success, with a focus on creativity, positive thinking and emotional sustainability. These workshops were a way not only to share his experience but to connect with people more deeply. He saw everyone who attended a workshop or course as a chance to make a lasting positive impact.
Founding a community project
Alongside the courses and workshops, Fawzooz decided to found a community project supporting ambitious young people in creativity and entrepreneurship. Its aim was to provide resources and guidance to young people pursuing their dreams without the support they needed. He began building a network of experts and mentors who could help them develop their ideas and launch their projects. The project wasn’t just about financial support; it was about guidance and education that could change people’s lives for the better. He believed sharing knowledge and guidance was the best legacy he could leave.
Giving as part of legacy
Fawzooz also realised that giving isn’t only money or time, but the ability to inspire others to become the best version of themselves. He knew leadership isn’t just directing people, but empowering them to become leaders in their own lives. In one workshop, he spoke about giving as part of building a legacy: “Giving doesn’t only mean offering something material. Giving is the time you spend with someone who needs support, the smile you offer someone having a bad day, the inspiration you plant in another person.” These words held the essence of his philosophy of life.
Lasting impact
Fawzooz knew a true legacy is the impact that lasts after you are gone. So he focused on building programmes and initiatives to support future generations. He didn’t want his efforts limited to a short span of time; he wanted his projects to continue even after he stepped away. He talked with his partners about developing long-term sustainability strategies, whether by training new leaders to take on responsibility or by creating funds to support future projects. He wanted the project to keep offering value to the community long after his role had ended.
Celebrating small wins
As he worked on building his legacy, Fawzooz realised success isn’t only in big achievements, but in the small wins that make a difference. He celebrated every small step the project took, whether a success story from someone who benefited from a workshop, or a start-up that took off thanks to the guidance it received. He saw that a legacy is built gradually, and doesn’t need grand moments to have value. Every small success added to the bigger picture, bringing him closer to the larger goal he pursued.
Focusing on core values
In the end, Fawzooz knew the legacy he wanted to build depended on the values he believed in. His core values were creativity, giving, sustainability and optimism. He wanted to leave a mark that reflected these values, and for everything he did to be consistent with them.
Fawzooz would tell himself: “A legacy is not only what we leave to others; it is what we live each day.” This was the philosophy that guided every step he took, and every decision about how to leave a positive mark on others’ lives.
Fawzooz had begun to build his legacy, not only through the projects he created, but through the values he planted in everyone around him. He knew the road was still long, but every small step brought him closer to that legacy.
