4Designing a Work–Life Balance

Despite the great progress Fawzooz had made in developing his creative mindset, another part of his life needed attention: the balance between work and personal life. As he threw himself into his new project and the intense work it required, he felt things slipping out of control. Long hours, little time for family or friends, and growing exhaustion were all taking their toll. One night, after a long day of meetings and tasks, he came home utterly drained. He sat on the sofa trying to relax, but his mind was still running non-stop, thinking about everything from work details to unfinished tasks.
In that moment he realised he urgently needed to restore balance to his life.
“Balance between work and life is not a luxury, but a necessity.”
Thinking about priorities
Fawzooz took a few days off to think. He sat with his notebook again and evaluated every part of his life. He wrote: “What are my priorities? What matters most to me?” He knew work was important to him, especially with the success it was beginning to bring. But he realised balance between work and personal life isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity for staying productive and happy in the long run. He had to find a way to give enough time to his family, his friends, and his mental and physical health.
Planning for balance
Fawzooz began planning how to divide his time better. He decided to define his working hours clearly and stick to a fixed finishing time each day, so he wouldn’t keep working late into the night. He set aside certain days each week to be completely free of work, to spend with family and friends. He also realised he needed to look after his physical health. He began exercising regularly, and decided to meditate to calm his mind and clear it of work pressure. He knew a creative mind needs rest as much as challenge, and that rest is an integral part of the creative process.
The challenges of keeping balance
Applying this balance wasn’t easy at first. He sometimes felt guilty stepping away from work, especially with deadlines looming or tasks unfinished. But he knew his commitment to balance would be the key to sustaining his success. One day, as work pressure mounted, he decided to go out with friends for a while, away from the office. At first he worried about the time spent away from work, but gradually he began to feel relaxed and refreshed. He knew these moments of rest and connection gave him the energy he needed to return to work with strength and focus.
A positive change
As the weeks passed, Fawzooz felt the change. Work was no longer his whole life, but part of a balanced system that included caring for himself, his family and his friends. He noticed this new balance made him more productive at work and more creative in his projects. He also found that relationships he had neglected began to improve. He spent more time with his family and joined in activities with friends, which gave him a sense of connection and social fulfilment. Balance wasn’t always easy, but Fawzooz realised that the more he invested in his personal life, the better every other part of his life became, including work.
Fawzooz had begun to understand that true success doesn’t come only from hard work, but from balancing work and personal life. He knew this journey toward balance was ongoing, but it was an important step toward a more balanced and happier life.
