Why emotions, and why now?

1 min read2 of 12

In a crowded city where the days pass at speed, Fawzooz lived a life that looked ordinary from the outside, but inside he knew things were not. He always felt trapped between conflicting emotions and thoughts. Day after day he found himself caught in a whirl of anger, sadness and anxiety, without understanding the real reason behind them. He couldn’t express what he felt, and didn’t know how to take control of the moments when emotions attacked him without warning. Every time he thought things were under control, he found himself in a new confrontation with himself, with thoughts that wouldn’t stop attacking and feelings that shook him.

In this issue we follow Fawzooz from the moment he explodes in a work meeting, to discovering emotional intelligence, facing his negative thoughts, and learning the tools of cognitive and dialectical behaviour therapy, until he finds his meaning in helping others.

Perhaps on this journey you will find something that helps you toward the peace you have long been looking for.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Fawzi Elgendi
