A drawing from the story “Saeed and the Garden of Gratitude”

In a quiet corner of a bustling, colourful city lived Saeed, a cheerful, clever boy loved by everyone who knew him, never without a smile. But deep inside he felt a vague emptiness, something missing he could not name.

On his way to school he passed a small park where children were playing with an old, worn-out ball. They had very little, but their laughter filled the place. Something stirred in his heart that he had never felt before.

“The more he gave, the greater and deeper his happiness became.”

He went home, gathered some toys he no longer used, and carried them in a box to the park the next day. The children’s faces lit up with joy; they thanked him and invited him to play. He spent the day playing and laughing with his new friends.

That night a deep happiness filled his heart, and he realised that what he had been missing was the joy of giving and gratitude. Giving, however small, creates a happiness beyond words.

From that day on, Saeed was always looking for ways to help others. And the more he gave, the greater and deeper his happiness became.
