Story 01 · What We Lost
1Hana and the Five Senses

In a quiet village, Hana was living through the hardest days of her life. She had lost her mother, and her heart was filled with a deep sorrow and a loneliness she had never known.
One day she decided to look for a way to calm herself, and chose to call on her five senses.
“The scent of roses brought back beautiful memories of her mother.”
Sight. She went to the village garden and sat before a clear pond, watching the sky and trees reflected in the water, and felt peace and stillness.
Hearing. She sat beneath a large tree listening to the birdsong and the wind whispering through the leaves, and felt comforted.
Touch. She went down to the riverbank and ran her fingers through the cool water, and felt refreshed.
Taste. She bought fresh seasonal fruit at the market and ate it slowly, thanking God for His blessings.
Smell. She drew near the rose garden and breathed in its fragrance, and beautiful memories of her mother came back to her.
That day Hana realised the five senses are a small path to calming the soul when feelings weigh it down. She went home with a calmer, more grateful heart, and decided to teach the village children how to call on their senses in hard times.
