A drawing from the story “Stop Worrying”

Fawzooz woke recalling the Prophet’s words, peace be upon him: “I seek refuge in You from worry and grief,” strengthening his resolve to move beyond the worry that scatters the mind and heart. He devoted this day to applying advice on how to stop worrying, in a spirit drawn from Islam, which teaches the believer to meet worry and stress with patience and trust. He began his day reflecting on God’s creation, contemplating the vast sky and the gentle breeze, sensing God’s power and greatness, aware that God, the Creator of all things, is able to lift his worry. He repeated the prayer, “O God, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief,” as he prepared for the day with a pure intention and a reassured heart. During the day, he applied specific strategies to reduce worry, such as focusing on the present moment and avoiding overthinking the future or regretting the past.

He used reflection and remembrance, recalling the virtue of patience and gratitude and how they can turn hardships into ease. In the evening he felt overwhelming relief and inner contentment. He noticed that by applying these simple techniques he had eased the weight of stress and strengthened his ability to enjoy the moments of his life.

“Pause at the moment of inner peace, and move past worry through trust in God and seeking His help. Hardships may be part of the journey, but positive thinking and a sense of God’s greatness can turn trials into opportunities for growth.”

He felt his heart had become more open and his soul more at peace. Fawzooz drew valuable lessons from this experience about the importance of mastering one’s thoughts, and how being occupied with positive things and gratitude can move the soul from worry to contentment and calm. He learned that true happiness springs from peace of mind and trust in God, and that controlling one’s thoughts and directing them toward the positive can make a profound difference in life. So Fawzooz closed his day with prayer and gratitude, aware that every day lived with trust and contentment is a step toward a life full of happiness and peace.
