A drawing from the story “Smile, Shake Hands, Look Warmly”

Fawzooz was ready to discover the secrets of heartfelt connection that rises above words and phrases. He decided to apply some strategies within the framework of Islamic manners, which place great value on good character and kind treatment. At the start of his day, he sat reflecting on the Prophet’s sayings that encourage a cheerful face and a warm welcome when meeting people, and practised the radiant smile that reflects the light of faith in the heart. He opened his body language and extended his hand warmly for a handshake, showing affection and appreciation.

Fawzooz paid attention to those first moments of meeting, looking into others’ eyes with respect and love, following the Prophet’s example of listening well and caring about what others say. He learned to use his tone of voice to convey love and respect, which enriched his social interactions. He also remembered the effect of calling people by their names, which honours them and affirms their importance, just as Islam loves us to care for one another’s feelings.

“Real connection goes beyond words to convey sincerity and love; genuine smiles and warm meetings build lasting bridges of affection and understanding that enrich human relationships.”

His experience was a window onto a deeper understanding of human connection: effective communication is not merely exchanging information, but building bonds between hearts. Fawzooz understood that such bonds build a loving, compassionate community, as the true faith commands. At the end of the fifteenth day, he was more certain than ever that the essence of good communication lies in sincerity, good intention and wishing good for others, values he had learned from his faith and his life. He came to influence, love and be touched in a short time, with an effect that lasts.
