A drawing from the story “Trusting in God”

After his deep experience of fasting in Ramadan and the renewed strength of his soul, Fawzooz felt the spiritual journey still held more lessons for him. His life was still full of daily challenges and the usual pressures of work and family, but he now had a new way of seeing them. He began to focus on trust in God as a foundation for living in peace and ease.

Fawzooz had long believed that success in life depended entirely on personal effort and constant work. He set clear goals and pursued them with all his strength, but he always felt constant pressure, and that results were not always in his control. In moments of failure, anxiety crept in and helplessness overwhelmed him. One day, after facing a big challenge at work and feeling discouraged, he remembered a verse from the Qur’an:

“Trust means giving your best, then leaving the result to God.”

“And whoever puts his trust in God, He is sufficient for him.”

Fawzooz sat at his desk thinking deeply about this verse. Its words were simple but carried deep wisdom. Trusting in God isn’t just an abstract act, but a state of contentment and complete confidence that God arranges all things. He felt this verse answered all the questions that had been circling in his mind about the worries and fears of daily life. In that moment, Fawzooz decided to make trust in God a core part of his spiritual journey. But he understood that trust doesn’t mean idleness or giving up; it means doing your best and then leaving the outcome in God’s hands.

This idea was a psychological release for Fawzooz: he felt he only had to do what he could, and leave what he couldn’t control to God. He began applying this principle daily. At work he strove hard to reach his goals, but at the same time he was reassured that, whatever the results, they were by God’s wise arrangement. When he faced big challenges or problems that seemed impossible, he paused to remember that God was with him, and he didn’t have to carry this burden alone.

One day, working on a difficult project as the pressure mounted, he decided to take a short break. He went out to a nearby park and sat on a bench overlooking dense trees. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to clear his mind. In that moment, a calm seeped into his heart. He remembered the verse again, and raised his hands in prayer: “O God, help me, for You are sufficient for me, and You are my Protector.”

Every time he put his trust in God, he felt the load he carried grow lighter. He realised trust isn’t just a momentary fix for problems, but a way of life in which one relies on God in everything, small or large. The more he relied on God, the stronger and more confident he felt. Fawzooz noticed how trust changed his outlook on life. When things didn’t go as planned, he no longer felt anxious or discouraged as before. He saw every challenge as a new chance to trust God and believe God was planning the best for him. Even in moments of failure, he understood the failure was part of God’s wisdom, perhaps a good he could not yet see.

Trust was also reflected in his relationships with others. He no longer felt he needed to control everything or interfere in every decision. He was calmer and more at ease, better able to listen and understand others. He knew everyone has their own journey, and that God arranges affairs for all with His wisdom. One night, reflecting on his spiritual journey so far, Fawzooz realised that trusting in God had given him the freedom he had been looking for. Life was no longer as exhausting, because God was always beside him. He felt trust was not only an act of the heart, but a path to reassurance and inner peace.

Trust in God became the most important lesson of Fawzooz’s spiritual life. He had learned that life is full of challenges, but with trust in God he could face them with confidence and ease. He knew the road to God isn’t always easy, but that God arranges everything with wisdom, and that it was enough to place his complete trust in God to live in peace and achieve true success.
